Armenak Vardanyan

Armenak Vardanyan is an Armenian sculptor and painter, born in 1955.

He graduated from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture department, in 1979.

In 1983 was accepted into the Artists’ Union of Armenia.

From 1983 to 1991 he was also a member of the Artists’ Union of USSR.

Armenak Vardanyan's sculptures are subtle, refined and often witty. They vary in size and materials; from huge statues to small sculptures and from hard marble to molten bronze.

His paintings on the other hand, are more abstract. His use of color, his bold brush strokes and his organic silhouettes fill his paintings with motion, strength and passion.

Armenak Vardanyan’s sculptures and paintings are kept in the National Gallery of Armenia, various galleries within the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries, the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Dante Museum in Ravenna and numerous private collections worldwide. He has won many awards and is considered an established artist within and outside Armenia.

Next to sculpting and painting he makes jewelry using leather, bronze and other materials.
